Upcoming Litters

Please note if you send us a one line email asking “How much?” we will not respond to your email.

We are happy to answer emails where inquiries are made about our dogs and us, we thank you for your cooperation.

We do not take deposits, nor do we keep a waiting list to be owned by one of our puppies.

Our Breeding Practices

At Timberfox we believe in “Quality, not Quantity” when we plan a breeding, we breed for ourselves first, in hopes of keeping a pup for ourselves to continue our breeding program, and of course to show (we show our dogs very competitively in conformation), we choose who gets our pups based on those who are interested, have been vetted through our application process, and decide which pups we feel are best suited for that family. We strive for excellent temperaments and health in our dogs.

Our pups don’t go to new homes before 9 weeks of age, we try to keep them as long as possible (closer to 10 weeks) as the moms teach them so much between 6 and 10 weeks, we also do not do the first set of shots until the puppies are 9 weeks of age.

We follow the Dr. Jean Dodd’s Vaccine Protocol with our puppies and adults.

We do not ship puppies unaccompanied by a human, we do not want our puppies flying alone in Cargo. Arrangements if we know someone who is flying to the area and can take a pup as excess baggage can be made, or prospective owners can fly in to get their puppy.

We do not have a kennel facility; all our dogs are our house dogs. We are not inviting people into our home to just visit, an application is required and vetted before we will allow people into our home.

Puppy Application Form

This application is the first step in the process to add a Timberfox Shiba Inu to your family.

Completing the application in no way guarantees that a puppy will be available, but is to assist us in determining if a Shiba Inu is compatible to you and your lifestyle.

Outdoor Activity Needs

Shibas require regular outdoor exercise. This breed is NOT suited for off-leash activities, as they have a strong prey drive and may not return when called. While some Shibas have successfully undergone extensive obedience training, this is not common.

Secure Fencing

Ensure your yard is securely fenced. Shibas are known for their agility and can sometimes scale fences up to 6 feet high. Consider a covered dog run for added security.

Time and Attention

Shibas are highly intelligent and can get bored easily, leading to behaviors like barking, digging, and chewing. Ensure you have time to engage with and entertain your dog.

Grooming Needs

While Shibas are naturally clean dogs, they still require regular maintenance. This includes brushing, nail trimming, and dental care. Shibas shed their soft undercoat twice a year—be prepared for increased grooming during these periods.

Temperament

Shibas are independent and can be tough-minded, yet they are also sensitive and loving. They enjoy attention but are not overly clingy, often behaving more like cats. Consider if this temperament fits with your lifestyle.

Socialization

Early socialization is crucial for Shibas. It's recommended to start before they are 6 months old. At Timberfox, we require one level of obedience training as part of our contract to ensure well-behaved dogs.

Shiba Inu Essentials

Equipping your Shiba Inu with the right supplies is crucial. You'll need a kennel, a comfortable bed, quality food, grooming tools, and a variety of toys and treats. We can provide a detailed list of recommended items and help you prepare everything you need for your new Shiba Inu.
